Eligibility Criteria

PROFESSIONAL REFERRALS: FREE (ONE PARCEL PER HOUSEHOLD, PER WEEK)

SELF-REFERRALS: £5 PER PARCEL (ONE PARCEL PER HOUSEHOLD, PER WEEK)

  • You would go without food yourself, or be unable to heat your home if you did not have support from the pet food bank

  • You have had a sudden change or delay in your benefits

  • You have suddenly become homeless

  • You are in a controlling relationship, or you are fleeing domestic abuse

  • You have had an unexpected vet or household bill & you are on a low income

  • A professional has identified you are in need, and they make a referral on your behalf

WE NO LONGER PROVIDE FOR LITTERS OF PUPPIES OR KITTENS

(PLANNED OR UNPLANNED), IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO SPAY/NEUTER YOUR PETS (THERE ARE SCHEMES THAT CAN HELP WITH THE COSTS)

IF YOU CAN AFFORD TO INTENTIONALLY BREED YOUR PET, YOU CAN AFFORD TO FEED THEM,

 

THE SAME APPLIES TO RECENTLY ACQUIRED PETS (WE WILL NO LONGER PROVIDE FOOD FOR ANY PETS UNDER THE AGE OF 6 MONTHS, AS THESE COSTS SHOULD HAVE BEEN THOUGHT ABOUT BEFORE ACQUIRING THE PET), WE NEED TO PROMOTE RESPONSIBLE OWNERSHIP

Self-referrals are accepted but we now require a £5 payment per parcel before dispatch, if you are OK with this please visit the BLUE LINK BELOW

If you think you are eligible please ask a professional organisation (Foodbank, CAB, Jobcentre, Council/Housing Association, Social Services, ect.) to make a referral on your behalf using the GREEN LINK BELOW

When you get in touch we will ask you about your current circumstances & your pets, we will then let you know what support is available

(Please don't be offended by our questions, we have to make sure the right people get the pet food parcels)

Collection/Delivery of Your Parcel (Collection is preferred, if possible)

PLEASE NOTE: We have a duty to ensure we follow guidelines so those that purchase & donate pet food to the pet bank know we are acting in the communities best interest by meeting identified need. This also includes our responsibility towards pet food companies that also donate

  1. You are NOT automatically eligible for support by being disabled or being in receipt of benefits

  2. Only ONE parcel can be claimed per week per household (Maximum amounts apply)

  3. We are NOT a long term solution; we are for short term support (unless further need is identified)

  4. We are NOT there primarily to support additional pets coming into your household (we can only offer support for the pets present in your household when you apply, any additional pets are your responsibility)

  5. What would you do if you could not have the support of the pet food bank, what are your options short term, or long term?

  6. Please DO NOT overly prescribe what you want as we can only give what we have had donated. We will always try to match dietary needs where possible

  7. We are NOT a free/cheap pet shop; we are there for those who have an identifiable need

  8. When things have improved for you, please consider donating back to the pet food bank
